Are You Overpaying for Your Company Cloud Operations?
As the company CFO you handle the finances of your company, but do you know if your cloud resources are optimized? Wait, that’s not my job to optimize cloud resources (you might be thinking). and you’re correct, but how do you know that your cloud billing statements are accurate and optimized?
Every cloud environment can have improvements, and can reduce the costs of cloud resources, The question is how do you do that without technical knowledge? The first and obvious answer is ask your technical team, “Are we overpaying?” and let them answer it, if they get into technical explanations this is a red flag. Why? because optimizing cloud costs is easy if you know what you’re doing. If not then they’ll start with technical reasons why it cannot be done.
Prioritize Your Cloud Billing
Once you as the CFO decide that you need to reduce cloud costs you must prioritize it, add it the team tasks, and track the progress via the monthly billing statement.
Ask your technical team for solutions and what their plan is, and give them a chance to improve the billing statement. How long should it take? it’s up to you to decide because you know the financial goals of your company and they probably don’t. Knowing the financial goals will make it clear on how urgent it is to improve the cloud billing statement.
